St. Joseph's Elementary School

Nestled in a wooded landscape, St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary in Chemainus offers faith-enriched education to children from preschool through grade 7. The school’s skilled educators provide a safe and caring environment, and nourish each student academically, physically, spiritually and artistically. St. Joseph’s offers music, PE, and Hul’qu’umin’um language and culture, as well as French language programs.

St. Joseph’s is an inclusive school, welcoming students of all backgrounds and abilities. Outdoor learning is an important component at all grade levels. Preschool and childcare is available on a part or full-time basis. Before and after school care is also offered for older children.

Protecting the Canada Summer Jobs Programs

On Thursday, January 25, 2018, with ecumenical and interfaith organizations, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) organized a news conference at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Toronto.  Present at the news conference were His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins; Mr. Bruce Clemenger, President of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada; Rabbi Chaim Strauchler of Shaarei Shomayim Congregation, Toronto; Imam Refaat Mohamed of the Canadian Council of Imams; and others from faith communities who had received funding in the past through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
