Catholic Schools Plan: Strong Foundations for a Bright Future

Physical education

Our program is taught by a physical education specialist.  All our students engage in at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity.  Children enjoy a wide range of games, sports, dance and activities which enhance their personal fitness level and skill development.

Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.
-John F. Kennedy

Students in grades four to seven are invited to participate in extra curricular sports such as:

  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Soccer
  • Field Hockey
  • Cross-Country Running
  • Track & Field
  • Swimming

Fair play, good sportsmanship and positive leadership skills are fostered at all levels of play.

Hit & Pitch Tournament

Every year, St. Joseph's hosts a fun-filled hit and pitch tournament.  We focus on positive sportsmanship and having a fun time. Join us Thursday, June 13th!

Swim Club

All students from Kindergarten through Grade Seven are invited to participate in a weekly swim program at the Frank Jameson Pool in Ladysmith.  St. Joseph's students are transported by bus after school every Tuesday.  A nominal fee is charged for this program.

My time at St. Joseph's School helped instill the moral, ethical, spiritual and family values that I have drawn on throughout my life.
Dr.Anthony St. Denis, PhD Alumnus
My favourite place in Chemainus is my school. I like the school (St. Joseph's) because it is a safe and caring environment. Kids in my school go on to do great things because of the loving and caring people who teach there.
